SASKATOON BLADES: DECEMBER 2012

best month yet. didnt start good, didnt end good, but holy hell the boys took the fans on a rollercoaster in the middle.
so obviously we started the month in alberta, and we lost to red deer, you already know that. spokane beat us  a few days after the alberta roady then we came out firing. home and home vs regina, we won the first game at home 9-0, and the second game 7-0. i wasnt expecting consecutive wins after that since andrey makarov went to russia for the world juniors and our backup who played very little previously would become our number one. but hey the boys went to brandon and put 7 in the back of the net. we were in moose jaw the next day and won 5-2, back in saskatoon a couple days after that and won 4-3 vs swift current, then kootenay came to town and we added 1 to the W column again. andddddd that would be the end of our streak. we were in swift to play the broncos before the break and lost 3-1 :( then lost both games in our home and home vs prince albert, as well as the last december game to regina on the 30th.
soooooo best month game wise, and worst month otherwise. yes we traded brett lernout :( as weird and embarassing as he seems (just watch On The Edge on sportsnet), he really was my favourite and a fellow #ferda enthusiast. i was really happy i got to see him play his last game in a blades uni when we were in red deer. i miss himmmmmm :(
9 HOME GAMES IN JANUARY!!!

CALGARY & RED DEER TRIP

a couple more road games in the books.
on friday (the 30th) i headed to the city to credit union centre in the morning to start off the trip. we left at 10 to calgary, which it felt like a lifetime to get there. one stop in hanna on the way, then we made er to calgary at about 4pm. the one hour time dfference was sure a blessing to have on this roady. after being stuck in horrible traffic for 400 hours, we made it to our hotel. and holy frig it was gorgeous. i unpacked, and got ready for the game then we took off for the dome which was about 15 minutes away. i met my parents there (they were already in calgary for an auction sale) and then went down for warmies. the saddledome might be the worst arena to navigate, when it comes to finding your seats. seems easy enough but when there stairs to go here, and stairs to go there, you get frusterated. after getting lost in some fancy concourse/restaurant/ballroom kind of place, and a little creep smile from the commish, i finally made it down. stayed there until warmups were done, then decided to make a few rounds around the saddledome. i like away games a tiiiiiny bit more than home games, just because i love the reactions you get. not just from the players when you cheer or during warmups (kind of like "what the hell are you doing here") but also from the other fans. the stares, chrips, "blades eh" comments, and so on. they never get old, and kind of make you feel special, or like every one is watching you and hate you. great feeling, really. so the game started, and it was pretty amazing i might add. a couple nice goals righ after another sure made the hitmen fans in our section angry (duh). revel got the first, beauty goal by the way, then josh (of course) got the next. the boys came out firing in the second and got a couple more. walker with the third of the game (new favourite player?! ......) and then dietz put the dagger in the hitmen. the third was pretty quiet, except for the end when we won and went crazy... the boys skated over and saluted us and right then i swear i couldve balled. makarov was amazing. such a sick game to be at. dalton thrower sat with us (his brother plays for the hitmen) and dalton was hurt so his family who sat behind me were cheering on his brother. sutter's dad (can you guess which one?!) also came by. and can i just say that despite what you see on tv, and what you would expect, the saddledome is a complete dump of an arena. anyways. so we went back to the hotel (some went to the casino like usual) and i was beat. i watched some tv, got my stuff for the morning ready, and called it a day. the next morning was pretty slack since we got a late checkout, and for some reason i was up bright and early. we left the hotel at 12 and header to "rocky view" aka the outside of calgary, i guess. we hit up crossiron mills mall and OMG I WAS IN HEAVEN. bass pro, pink, pro hockey life, sportchek, michael kors....i mean like its a hick ladies dream. we only had an hour there, so i was speedwalking like a mad man through the mall to find the stores i wanted to go to. after just over 200$, we headed to red deer. it seemed like a 20 minute drive for some reason. we went out to eat, then waited for like 2 days until the doors opened at the arena. our crew then invaded the last rink of the trip. it was surprisingly nicer than i expected, and alot more put together than the saddledome, honestly. some of the boys (nicholls, stransky, walker, pufahl, dietz were the only ones i looked at ha) were playing sewerball (?) right beside the ladies washroom, and as i was walking in, pufahl hit me with the ball...there was the obvious "oh sorry" from a couple of the boys, then it was like an outburst of "WHY'D YOU HIT THE BLADES FAN?!?" from nicholls and a couple others. i guess i just happened to glance over at walker while he was smiling and oh damn he is the most beautiful hick ever. i did the same old road pregame rituals then had to try some of this "amazing" icecream that was the talk of the trip. this game didnt go as good as we hoped. we knew it was going to be hard but i was hoping we wouldnt be shut out, obviously. bartosak was amazing and robbed josh nicholls a ton of times. also the post was not our friend. so we ended up losing 3-0. the rebels are a top notch classy organization, from what i saw on saturday. they were so welcoming to us (the fans) and offered us tons. it was so nice to stockl for the first time since the trade, made me a little emotional haha. so after the game we went out to our bus and started the trek back to saskatoon. the trip was amazing and i cant wait until the next one. moose jaw/swift current? till next time......

#CREWLOVE on our pa northern

we winnnnnnn

SASKATOON BLADES: NOVEMBER 2012

much. better. month.
out of 11 games, we ended up winning 7, so that makes for a happy fan right there. so the boys started out the month on the road in kootenay and lethbridge. it seems like on most of our roadies (even the short ones) we can never get the sweep, so, we won 3-2 vs the ice and lost 5-4 vs the canes. the next weekend we had our last two games before heading out west. again, we won 6-3 vs the pats but then lost to seattle 6-2 on the saturday. on friday, (as you probably already know) jessey astles got his wrist cut by a skate blade during/after a fight and had to be sent to the hospital. i guess he hopes to be back in time for playoffs (IN MARCH!!!) but hey, what can you do. injuries have been a bitch to us lately, with astles, stovin and thrower, and then mccolgan being out vs kelowna (sucks he had to miss playing his old team). the bc road trip went better than i thought it would... big wins against prince george and vancouver to start it off was friggin exciting. we lost 5-2 in victoria, won 3-2 in kamloops then got our asses handed to us in kelowna. anddddd then a home game!! on the 27th lethbridge was in town. over 6000 people showed up and watched us win 5-3. then on friday we were in calgary, which youll hear about in the next post ha.
so overall the month was good, the blowout loss was obviously the downfall but we sure responded good to it. in other news, brett lernout cut his hair and now looks like a 2. earlier in the month we traded for nathan burns (his brother michael played with us last year), also it was nice that logan harland gave up his number to nathan so that he could wear the same number as his brother. bad thing about the trade, we traded basically my last standing favourite player, travis mcevoy. first stockl, then mcevoy...i guess lernout holds that title now, who knows what'll happen come trade deadline.
also, movember treated brenden walker verrrrrrrry well.
